JOYCE MULROONEY

JOYCE MULROONEY

Delaware

About Joyce

I run creative intervention programs with trafficking survivors in Wilmington, Delaware.  I also lead one-day conferences at churches focusing on the links between the creative character of God and how the Healing Arts Method helps people access the creative parts of themselves that were laying dormant.  Additionally, I have designed and led a one day conference with a foster care support agency.  I taught 25 foster caregivers exercises from the Healing Arts Method and how to utilize the method with children they are caring for.

Method use: I used the Healing Arts Method to expand my own understanding, simplifying emotions, experience, and personal emotional expression.  I found that a big part of working with at-risk individuals is a keen assessment of each one’s tolerance, and creating a safe space for a diverse group of people at different points in their process–To allow participants to take one step in the right direction without feeling they have gone beyond what they can handle.  Collaborative projects are the hardest to facilitate, yet the collaborative process has such enormous potential for deepened relational capacity.

About Tammy

Founder of New Beginnings Safehouse and Healing Program, Southeast Asia– a Safe House for survivors of childhood sexual exploitation and abuse.

Method use: The Healing Arts Method is an effective part of our healing program for children recovering from sex trafficking. This method supports trauma-informed self-expression, provides a structured and safe environment for processing personal narratives through multiple creative models, and builds important connections in group settings through shared experiences. These healing activities provide us with open doors for conversation and prayer that lead to greater healing in the children’s lives. It’s been a welcome and beneficial addition to our program.

About Zac

I serve as the Public Relations Coordinator for Global Teen Challenge and help lead On The Way Global Missions, the mobilization and sending department of Global Teen Challenge. My work focuses on storytelling, media, and creating opportunities for students, interns, and mission teams to engage in life-changing ministry around the world. I previously served in India for over a decade and have ministered in more than 30 nations.

Method use: I have seen the Healing Arts Method create space for individuals to process trauma, encounter God’s presence, and express what words alone often cannot communicate. Through creative expression such as music, storytelling, and visual art, people begin to rediscover identity, hope, and freedom. In cross-cultural ministry and recovery settings, the arts consistently open hearts, build trust, and help facilitate deep emotional and spiritual healing.

About Shrishti

I work as a teacher, coordinating youth activities and leading children’s programs in Lucknow, India.

Method use: I have discovered that when you don’t know how to express your emotions, art helps you to bring those emotions out, and adds words to them. I have coordinated programs with at-risk children, coordinating art and drama programs that help them with social-emotional intelligence, discovering healthy modes of expression. The arts build confidence and better communication in children of all levels, hence giving them a stronger foundation for educational success.
